The focus of the Athenaeum’s renovation project was to provide more space for staff, collections, and new programs.  Another primary component of this renovation was to bring a comprehensive preservation environment to the building and collections. The useable floor space was increased significantly through the acquisition of space in the adjoining building at 14 Beacon Street. The Athenaeum has beautifully achieved its goal to preserve, while expanding and improving its space.
