ACT Class
Advocate Certification Training

Each of Boston’s neighborhoods is unique featuring architecture, character, and a historic narrative that reflects generations of Bostonians. The individual components that make up our neighborhoods—from the storefronts in the commercial corridor to the steeples and meeting houses to the parks and statues—combine to create a distinct sense of place from East Boston to the Back Bay to Mattapan. As our city continues to grow and evolve, the Alliance is dedicated to preserving that character throughout Boston’s neighborhoods, but our voice is stronger and more effective when our partners and supporters join our effort.

If you would like to be an advocate for historic preservation in your neighborhood, or if you already are and would like further guidance, the ACT Class is a great opportunity to learn how to better protect, promote, and preserve what makes your Boston neighborhood special.

The ACT Class is a four-week class with one class a week. Each class will focus on a different topic including the basics of historic preservation, the development process in Boston, how to be an effective advocate, and connecting with local partners in your neighborhood. All four classes must be completed before earning the ACT certificate. The course will be offered several times a year.

Registration is required and seats are limited.

The ACT Class is made possible by grants from MassHousing and the BSA Foundation

This class session is now sold out. More classes will be offered in the future.
